New England Basketball League

New England Basketball League, a semi-professional league that operated for one season, 1903-04, with all the teams located in Massachusetts except for one team in Rhode Island. Typical of the era the season was divided into halves, Manchester winning the first half with a 9-1 record, and South Framingham winning the second half with a 24-8 record. And typical of the era, South Framingham actually began the second half of the season located at Lynn but after a few weeks relocated.
The following year, the New England Basketball Association, which picked up the Haverhill, Natick, and Lowell teams.
