- 1955 - Above: Jack Sikma, who averaged a double-double in his 14 NBA seasons, is born in Kankakee, Illinois.
- 1997 - Phoenix outlasts Portland, 140-139, in quadruple-overtime. It is the longest game in Phoenix franchise history.
- 1997 - In an era before Hip Hop culture became pervasive, the NBA fines Minnesota $25,000 and Chris Carr, Kevin Garnett, Stephon Marbury, Clifford Rozier, and Doug West $2,500 each for wearing their shorts too long.
- 2006 Peja Stojaković became the first player in NBA history to start a game off by scoring 20 consecutive points for his team. He set a Hornets record of 22 points in the first quarter. He went on to score 42 points for a career high helping the Hornets beat the Charlotte Bobcats 94-85.
