- 1977 - The New Orleans Jazz set an NBA record for fewest free throws made in a game: one. Despite 17 fouls by Houston, the Jazz go to the foul line only five times and make just one, yet still manage to defeat the Rockets 103-101. The record would stand for almost twenty years.
- 1983 - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (right) of the Los Angeles Lakers becomes the second player in NBA history to score 30,000 points, joining Wilt Chamberlain at that plateau, as the Lakers win, 117-110, at Portland.
- 2004 - A brawl between the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons results in nine players being suspended by the NBA, including Ron Artest (83 games), Stephen Jackson (30), Jermaine O'Neal (15), Ben Wallace (6) and Anthony Johnson (5). Artest's suspension is the longest in NBA history for an infraction not related to drugs or gambling.
