Pedro Ferrandiz

Pedro Ferrándiz González (born November 20, 1928 in Alicante, Spain) is a Spanish basketball coach. Some call him "the Red Auerbach of Europe."
He is most famous for coaching the Real Madrid basketball club in the 1960s and 1970s. He won record 12 Spanish League titles (1960, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1975) , four European Champions Cup titles (1965, 1967, 1968 and 1974) and eleven Copa del Rey titles (1960, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1967, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1975). His career record coaching Real is 437-90. He recorded two Spanish League undefeated seasons in 1962 (18-0) and 1973 (30-0).
In 1976 he co-founded the World Association of Basketball Coaches.
Pedro Ferrandiz was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 2007. The International Olympic Committee awarded him the Olympic Order in 1977; he is the only basketball coach in history to receive the award. In 2000 he received the FIBA Order of Merit. In 2009 he was elected to the FIBA Hall of Fame.
