Ramon Sessions (born April 11, 1986 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina) is a National Basketball Association player for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 56th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Sessions played collegiately at the University of Nevada for three years.

High School

He received three 3A State Player of the Year honors while attending Myrtle Beach High School, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He also holds the school record for most points scored in a single game (54). As a sophomore, he led his team to victory in the South Carolina 3A State Championship.

College

Sessions attended college at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he spent three years at.

Freshman Year (2004–2005)

During his freshman year at the University of Nevada, Reno, he averaged 9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists (ranked third in the WAC). He ranked sixth in the league in steals (1.2). He set a freshman school record for assists (166). He scored in double figures 14 times, recording a career-high 23 points at Boise State. In addition, Sessions was named to the conference All-Newcomer Team as a freshman.

Sophomore Year (2005–2006)

He averaged 4.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists (ranked second in WAC). He ranked second in the conference in assists-to-turnover ratio (2.28). He posted season-high 10 points at Idaho, his only double-digit scoring effort of the season. He registered a career-high 13 assists against Akron.

Junior Year (2006–2007)

In his junior and final year in college, he averaged 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists (ranked second in the WAC) at Nevada. He scored 20 or more points five times. He tied career-high with 23 points at New Mexico State. He scored 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting at Akron. Sessions notched 12 points, six rebounds and a season-high nine assists vs. Utah State in the WAC Tournament semifinals. He scored 16 points vs. Creighton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He earned Second Team All-WAC honors as a junior. He was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. Sessions currently ranks second in Nevada history in assists (478) and ninth in steals (113).

NBA and D-League

Sessions was selected in the second round (56th pick overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Although some felt Sessions should have returned for his senior year at Nevada, he put on a very strong performance at the NBA pre-draft camp in Orlando and decided to stay in the draft. Considered by scouts to be a very good ballhandler, passer, and decision-maker, although his athleticism and NBA-scoring ability were questioned.

Sessions was the first NBA player to be assigned to the NBA Development League in the 2007-08 season, when he was sent by the Bucks to the Tulsa 66ers; Sessions was named D-League Performer of the Week for the opening weekend of the season, November 26, 2007, averaging 30.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Later in the season, for January 28, 2008, he was also named Performer of the Week, becoming the first two-time performer for the season. He averaged 29.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 12.3 assists in three wins for the 66ers.

In January 2008, Sessions was first called up to the Bucks, but due to a wrist injury he wasn't able to make his NBA debut until March 9, in a 119-97 home loss against the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring 2 points. Later on, due to injuries to starting point guard Maurice "Mo" Williams and reserve Charlie Bell, his playing time increased. Earlier, on April 2, he made a game-winning 19-foot baseline jumper, off a pass from Andrew Bogut, to give the Bucks a dramatic one-point road win against the Washington Wizards in a game where the Bucks never led by more than one point.

On April 14, 2008, Sessions scored a then career-high 20 points, adding 8 rebounds and a Milwaukee Bucks franchise-record 24 assists against the Chicago Bulls in a 151-135 home loss. His performance was also the first "20-20" (also known as a double double-double) with points and assists in Bucks history. The following night he topped his career-high with 25 points, in a 110-101 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Sessions topped his career high again by almost doubling it. On February 7, 2009 in an overtime loss against the Detroit Pistons, he scored 44 points. On April 1, 2009, Sessions recorded his first career triple-double against the Los Angeles Lakers scoring 16 points with 16 assists and 10 rebounds.

On September 4, 2009, he signed an offer sheet from the Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly worth $16 million for 4 years. The Bucks had seven days to match the offer but declined. Sessions will likely share backcourt duties with Timberwolves rookie guard Jonny Flynn.

On July 26, 2010, Sessions was traded along with Ryan Hollins to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair.
