Seattle SuperSonics were a professional basketball team in the Western Conference of the NBA, the team was located in Seattle, Washington. The SuperSonics were founded in 1967, they went on to win a NBA Championship in 1979 as well as 3 Western Conference titles. Following a 20-62 record in the 2007-08 season, the team was relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and renamed the Thunder. In February 2012, commissioner David Stern told The Salt Lake Tribune that the NBA "would consider going back" as long as the city was going to build a new facility. In an exclusive interview on 710 ESPN Seattle's "Kevin Calabro Show", Seattle mayor Mike McGinn said they're taking Christopher Hansen's arena proposal seriously for a new arena south of the Safeco Field parking garage.[1]

Franchise History
