Vernon Macklin (born September 25, 1986) is an American professional basketball player in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons. Macklin attented Georgetown University then transferred to Florida. At 6'10" and 243 pounds, Macklin is widely considered a five-star recruit at the power forward position. Rivals.com, in fact, ranks him as the 12th best overall player and the 3rd best power forward in the high school class of 2006. Macklin attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia and was named a McDonald's All-American. In addition, Macklin was one of only ten players selected for the 2006 USA Basketball Junior National Select Team, which participated in the Nike Hoop Summit.
